Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Clerk (Temporary, Part-Time to 30 Hours/Week) with access to benefits after 30 days.

Location: Hybrid (Mostly Remote) – Initial on-site time required for training and equipment pickup

Job Type: Temporary (May–Early November), Part-Time

Start Date: May 12, 2025

Hours:

  • ~20 hours/week during training (starting May 12)
  • ~25–30 hours/week beginning early June (or earlier, depending on leave start date)

About the Role:

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk to provide temporary support during a parental leave. The role begins part-time for training in mid-May and ramps up to approximately 30 hours per week through early November (subject to change based on the duration of leave).

You’ll work closely with the Director of Business and Finance and the Business Office Assistant to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable / Parent Billing Support

  • Manage aftercare billing (Homeroom): review, correct, and post charges/payments
  • Send monthly bills and respond to parent inquiries
  • Post Homeroom activity to the general ledger

Accounts Payable & Journal Entries

  • Enter invoices (~30/week) and credit card transactions
  • Reconcile monthly Amazon and credit card statements
  • Record ADP fees, payroll journal entries, loan entries, and miscellaneous income
  • Prepare deposits for clothing purchases (Square, Venmo, cash/checks)

Donation Processing

  • Post donations from batch reports (Classy, PayPal, ACH, etc.)
  • Reconcile donation accounts with Advancement/Development teams

Tools You'll Use:

  • Blackbaud Tuition Management
  • Homeroom (Aftercare Billing)
  • Google Suite (Docs, Sheets)
  • Microsoft Excel

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Prior experience with accounting support in a school or nonprofit setting (preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud or similar financial systems
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with parents and staff
