We are seeking a board-certified Clinical Laboratory Geneticist (PhD) to lead case sign-offs for next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based genetic testing in our state-of-the-art clinical laboratory in New Orleans, Louisiana. Reporting to the Laboratory Medical Director, you will interpret complex genomic data, ensure diagnostic accuracy, and uphold quality assurance for hereditary and oncology panels, exome sequencing, and whole-genome analysis. This role is pivotal in maintaining CLIA compliance and delivering actionable insights to clinicians and patients. Join our innovative, collaborative team to advance precision medicine.

• Case Review and Sign-Offs : Independently review and authorize NGS test reports, including variant interpretation, pathogenicity assessment (per ACMG guidelines), and clinical correlation with patient history and family pedigree.
• Data Analysis and Interpretation : Analyze NGS raw data using bioinformatics tools, identify disease-linked variants, and integrate findings with phenotypic data to diagnose genetic disorders, including cancer predisposition syndromes, rare diseases, and inherited conditions.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance : Oversee NGS assay validation, monitor quality control metrics (e.g., coverage depth, error rates), and ensure adherence to CLIA and ACMG standards for high-complexity testing.
• Laboratory Oversight : Supervise NGS genetics workflows, including assay development, troubleshooting, and optimization of NGS pipelines; provide technical supervision for lab staff performing non-waived testing.
• Reporting and Communication : Author clear, clinician-ready reports detailing test results, clinical implications, and recommendations; collaborate with genetic counselors, pathologists, and ordering physicians.
• Research and Education : Contribute to translational research on novel variants or NGS technologies; mentor trainees and staff; stay current through conferences and publications.
• Administrative Duties : Participate in proficiency testing, audit preparation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency and patient outcomes.
  

• PhD in genetics, molecular biology, or related field from an accredited institution.
• Board certification (or eligibility) from the ABMGG in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or Clinical Molecular Genetics.
• Proficiency in molecular techniques and NGS platforms (we are on the Illumina platform)
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency in bioinformatics tools and programming for data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
