Job Title: Junior Cloud Engineer

Location: Hybrid – St. Louis

Employment Type: Contract with potential for extension or conversion

Pay Range: $40–$60/hr W2 (based on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Support new and existing application development in a cloud-first environment (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product owners on software requirements, feature enhancements, and testing strategies.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and follow CI/CD best practices for software delivery.
• Build and maintain technical documentation to support application logic, processes, and testing.
• Write clean, testable, and self-documenting code that other developers can easily understand and extend.
• Assist in test automation using JUnit, Rest Assured, or similar frameworks.
• Support DevOps initiatives such as integrating build tools (e.g., Maven, Jenkins) and using source control (Git).

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience with Java/J2EE development, including Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
• 1+ years of experience with Angular (version 12 or higher).
• Familiarity with TDD/BDD practices and API testing (REST/SOAP).
• At least 1 year of experience working in a public cloud environment (GCP preferred).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitLab.
• Working knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools.
• Exposure to containerized applications and Kubernetes/Docker environments.
• Interest in learning and growing into a lead or full-stack engineering role.
• Previous experience with Selenium or other test automation frameworks.
• Experience working in agile teams using Scrum or similar methodologies.
