Altius Talent is currently seeking a detail-oriented Entry Writer on behalf of a well-established European freight forwarder based in Lynbrook, NY . This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills and a background in customs brokerage or international logistics to join a reputable, fast-paced logistics company with a global footprint.

About the Role:

As an Entry Writer, you’ll play a key role in the customs clearance process. You will be responsible for preparing and processing import documentation, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, and coordinating with clients, carriers, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit customs entries for ocean and air freight shipments
• Ensure accurate classification of goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
• Work closely with clients to gather necessary import documentation
• Communicate with Customs & Border Protection (CBP), PGA (FDA, USDA, etc.), and other regulatory bodies as required
• Track shipments and provide clients with timely updates
• Maintain compliance with all federal regulations and company policies
• Support customs clearance processes from start to finish, ensuring timely release and delivery of goods

Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in entry writing, customs brokerage, or international logistics
• Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification
• Experience using customs software platforms (e.g., Descartes, Magaya, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and excellent data entry skills
• Effective communication and customer service abilities
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

• Previous experience with European trade lanes
• Familiarity with OGA requirements (FDA, USDA, EPA, etc.)
• Licensed Customs Broker (a plus, not required)
