What we are looking for

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Risk Management Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the refinement and implementation of risk management strategies for our manufactured housing (MH) portfolio. This role will involve analyzing data, identifying potential risks, and providing recommendations to mitigate those risks, ultimately contributing to the overall financial health and stability of our communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of potential and existing MHCs, including operational and geographic/market risks.
  • Create/enhance processes that enable Roots leadership to identify, assess, categorize, and manage key areas of risk that may impact company objectives.
  • Manage and maintain the master insurance program.
  • Track and monitor insurance coverage and claims.
  • Advise on and support a strategy to manage identified risks.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures for Roots leadership and employees to address identified areas of risk.
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the company to institute a risk management program, develop a company culture of risk prevention in support of the program, and to train Roots leadership and employees on policies and procedures related to the program.
  • Develop and maintain risk dashboards to track and monitor insurance claims.
  • Evaluate the impact of changing insurance market conditions and regulatory requirements on the portfolio.
  • Assist in the due diligence process for new acquisitions and development projects, focusing on risk identification and mitigation.
  • Review and analyze loan documents, leases, and other relevant contracts to identify key lender insurance requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on risk assessments, portfolio performance, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare of risk related reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate risk assessments and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in commercial property risk management

Education / Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in risk management preferably in the multifamily sector.
  • 5-7 years of insurance management and claim experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, business administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of multifamily real estate fundamentals, financial analysis, and risk management principles.
  • Deep risk management industry relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
