Job Description: Director of Supply Chain Data Analytics

Position: Director of Supply Chain Data Analytics

Location: Roanoke, VA

Reports To: Vice President of Supply Chain

Position Summary:

Virginia Transformer is seeking an innovative and results-driven Director of Supply Chain Data Analytics to lead the development of data-driven strategies that optimize procurement, logistics, inventory management, and overall supply chain performance. This role will be responsible for analyzing end-to-end supply chain data, identifying improvement opportunities, and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, supply chain management, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analytics and Reporting:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain dashboards and analytics tools to track key supply chain performance metrics (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and supplier performance.
  • Analyze data related to procurement, production, transportation, and warehousing to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
  • Provide actionable insights through predictive and prescriptive analytics to drive strategic decisions.

Supply Chain Strategy and Optimization:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supplier selection, inventory planning, and distribution networks.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at reducing inventory carrying costs, improving material flow, and enhancing supplier collaboration.
  • Utilize data modeling, forecasting, and simulations to improve demand planning and capacity management.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements across the supply chain using data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and apply lean methodologies and best practices to eliminate waste and enhance overall efficiency.

Supplier and Vendor Performance:

  • Analyze supplier performance data and hold suppliers accountable for delivery reliability, cost efficiency, and compliance.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for suppliers and vendors, driving continuous improvement in supplier relationships.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Partner with procurement, production, engineering, and logistics teams to align supply chain strategies with business goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts and professionals, fostering a data-driven culture within the organization.

Technology and Systems Integration:

  • Evaluate and implement data analytics tools, software, and systems to enhance supply chain visibility and performance.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including ERP, warehouse management, and transportation systems, to provide comprehensive insights.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, material shortages, and production delays through data analysis.
  • Develop contingency plans and proactive measures based on historical trends and real-time data.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management and data analytics, with a proven track record of applying data-driven solutions.
  • Experience in logistics, inventory management, and supplier performance optimization within a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in statistical modeling, data visualization, and performance tracking.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R.
  • Knowledge of supply chain systems, including ERP, warehouse management, and procurement platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change through data.
