Job Title: Farm Compliance Specialist—Region 3 (Central Iowa)

Location: Central Iowa

Reports To: Farm Compliance Manager – Iowa Region

Job Type: Full-time, Salaried

Travel: Routine travel and site visits to all facilities located in Region 3

Job Summary:

The Farm Compliance Specialist for Region 3 is responsible for ensuring compliance with biosecurity, animal health and welfare, manure management, water quality, and pest control programs at sites housing layer and pullet flocks. This role requires collaboration with site management, flock services, and the compliance team to maintain adherence to the FDA Egg Rule and other relevant regulations and standards. The specialist ensures that site activities align with our biosecurity, welfare, and compliance protocols to safeguard our flocks' safety and well-being.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the Farm Compliance Manager in developing and implementing farm compliance programs in line with regulations and standards from FDA, DNR, NPIP, UEP, AHC, and customers.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure proper execution of compliance programs at all sites.
  • Monitor bird movements and ensure timely flock testing activities.
  • Coordinate environmental testing to ensure compliance with timelines.
  • Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations and standards from regulatory bodies and customers.
  • Conduct routine travel and site visits to facilities in Region 3.
  • Conduct or coordinate internal audits of site compliance with programs.
  • Initiate, track, and trend corrective actions from internal audits.
  • Coordinate and prepare corrective action follow-ups for customer, regulatory, and third-party inspections.
  • Monitor progress of corrective actions for audit deficiencies.
  • Coordinate, prepare for, and lead external audits related to animal health and welfare, biosecurity, and regulatory programs.
  • Handle and submit all reports related to compliance programs.
  • Develop and coordinate employee training programs related to compliance, including train-the-trainer workshops.
  • Maintain records in accordance with the document control program.
  • Work with the Director of Compliance and Farm Compliance Manager to develop and improve programs continuously.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
  • Experience managing teams and programs
  • 2+ years of experience with regulatory and welfare compliance in poultry or a similar industry (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of the poultry industry and related regulations and standards (preferred)
  • Licensed or able to obtain licenses: Pesticide Applicator by the State of Iowa (preferred), Certified Water Operator within the state of Iowa (preferred)
  • Ability to demonstrate "buy-in" and employee ownership of compliance programs
  • Skilled in performing internal on-site compliance inspections
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual capabilities preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe DC, etc.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in various climate conditions, including extreme heat and cold environments. It involves walking, standing, and sitting for long periods.
