Job Description

A well-established law firm with offices in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. is hiring a full-time Office Manager to oversee administrative operations across both locations. This exempt-level role is based in the San Francisco office and reports directly to the firm’s leadership team.

Compensation & Benefits

The position offers a competitive annual salary between $135,000 and $145,000. The firm provides comprehensive benefits, including full coverage of health and dental insurance for the Office Manager and partial coverage for dependents.

Role Overview

The Office Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of administrative functions, including oversight of departments such as Accounting, IT, Office Services, Records, Library, and Calendaring. This role plays a key part in employee onboarding, benefits administration, training initiatives, policy enforcement, and staff relations. The manager will also lead recruitment efforts for non-attorney roles and ensure compliance with employment regulations. A strong emphasis is placed on cultivating a positive and productive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding for non-attorney staff
  • Supervise and support administrative personnel, including regular check-ins and performance evaluations
  • Develop and implement training programs to support professional development
  • Manage employee benefits and compensation tracking; coordinate with brokers and lead open enrollment
  • Address workplace concerns and foster a collaborative environment
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal policies
  • Organize firm-wide events and staff appreciation activities
  • Oversee office space management, including vendor coordination and renovation projects
  • Maintain and update emergency preparedness and continuity plans for both offices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5–7 years of management experience in a legal or professional services setting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Solid understanding of HR practices and office operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong writing and presentation abilities
