Job Title: Meadow Mountain Ranch Summer Maintenance Specialist

Department: Outdoor Programs & Property

Region: Meadow Mountain Ranch

Job Title Reports to: Property Manager

Dates: May - August (exact dates TBD)

Pay:$18.81-$22.00/hour

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Maintenance Specialist assists in the care and maintenance of Meadow Mountain Ranch (MMR) during peak usage season. The Maintenance Specialists also supports the construction and management of property improvements.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

Camp Facility Maintenance

  • Assist in the care for, maintenance of, and general cleanliness of camp facilities and grounds including roads, fences, and buildings
  • Responsible for performing various skilled trade tasks for facility maintenance and construction projects
  • Ensure property and program equipment and machinery are safe, in well-functioning working order, and in clean condition
  • Ensure risk is managed by prioritizing safety-related projects and needs, facilitating swift and timeline completion
  • Assist in camp facility preparation for changing weather conditions
  • Performs some tasks autonomously under the direction of supervisor

Cross Functional Work

  • Deliver emergency support during on-site incidents
  • In coordination with the camp team, support as needed with camp property usage including customer communication, external community partnerships, check-in and check-out, housekeeping and cleaning, and other operational logistics
  • Manage site and program equipment, including storage, maintenance, and coordination with fellow team members

Administration and Collaboration

  • Manage limited administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner
  • Participate in supervisory and camp meetings for planning purposes, communication resolutions, and carrying out assignments
  • Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to the property, staff, volunteers, and campers
  • Follow applicable policies, procedures, and standards set by Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, and other certifying industry organizations
  • Support the efforts and commitments of the Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) in pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served
  • Embrace diversity and inclusiveness by contributing to a positive relationship between diverse groups in the Council as a whole and between staff, volunteers, and campers

Job Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Ability to maintain, assess, and operate site and program equipment, machinery, and power tools
  • Preferred skills with carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and general maintenance
  • Preferred experience in driving a tractor, using a backhoe, skid steer, augur, and side by side
  • Preferred experiencing maintaining property grounds, such as fences, gates, roads, pastures, enclosures, etc

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, driving record acceptable to GSCO insurance company standards, with 5 years of driving experience

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have current OR willingness to obtain the following certifications: First Aid/CPR, Universal Standard Precautions

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Requires extensive walking over uneven and unpaved terrain
  • Work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, snowy, sunny, and windy conditions
  • Perform manual labor at an elevation more than 8,500 feet
  • Able to carry, lift and/or transfer at least 75 pounds
  • Climb and work on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs
  • Travel and Transportation
  • Access to own transportation with insurance at required levels
  • Travel over mountain roads which may include unpaved rough terrain
