Job Overview

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician at Tombot, you’ll play a key hands-on role in assembling robotic systems, supporting product development, performing validation testing, and maintaining organized systems. You will work closely with engineers across disciplines to build, test, and improve our robotic companions. This position requires practical technical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to solving engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain assembly instructions
• Build prototypes and test fixtures for mechanical assemblies
• Perform soldering, wire stripping, crimping and other common cable assembly steps
• Fabricate prototype parts using 3D printing and silicone molding techniques
• Maintain lab workspace and inventory
• Assist in preparing technical drawings, schematics, and documentation using CAD tools
• Maintain and calibrate mechanical equipment in compliance with safety standards
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system issues
• Conduct validation and performance testing of robotic systems
• Record, analyze, and document test results and repair work
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent training in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• Proficiency in using mechanical tools and lab equipment
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
• Understanding of mechanical and electromechanical systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Exposure to CNC, 3D printing, or laser-cutting machines
• Ability to follow and create technical documentation and engineering drawings
• Organized, detail-oriented, and effective at managing time and priorities
