Position: Mechanical Technician Location: Big Sandy Plant – Catlettsburg, KY

Hours of work: 7 Days per Week; Rotating Shifts 8- or 12-hour shifts  

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot and repair mechanical machinery of all types. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will perform a full range of assignments involved in functioning within a self-directed work team. Primary tasks include the inspection, repair, installation, and overhauling of equipment throughout the plant as well as building and physical structure maintenance. This position is responsible for acceptable on-stream-factor performance. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to) 

• Perform and document routine inspections of equipment. Prepare work orders with appropriate descriptions
• Participate in safety audits, safety meetings and proper and accurate incident investigations
• Perform daily tasks in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
• Assist in planning and execution of bid area turnarounds
• Assure that work areas are kept in a neat and orderly manner to assure conditions that are acceptable according to good housekeeping, environmental and safety standards
• Know and comply with all area ISO procedures and JSPs
• Participate in continuous improvement activities
• Perform proper shift relief with members of own work team and other work teams
• Inspect machinery and equipment to identify necessary action to be taken
• Install equipment or machinery
• Maintain all maintenance shop equipment and tools in a safe and proper condition
• Notify maintenance coach of necessary resources to appropriately support operations of the Big Sandy Plant
• Overhaul equipment
• Participate in small group activities including High Impact Groups
• Perform various assignments involving the application of maintenance skills
• Perform various preventative maintenance tasks such as inspecting, cleaning and lubricating of machinery or equipment. Support acceptable plant on-stream performance
• Performs the full range of assignments involved in functioning within a self-directed work team
• Prepare and complete accurate records of the various types of work performed and maintains other records as required
• Repair or replacement of parts or components
• Responsible for working with Operations Teams to facilitate plant operation and assure the efficient operation of the plant
• Support maintenance coaches to plan work orders, as requested
• Notify operations coach of necessary break-in work to schedule of the Big Sandy Plant

Qualifications  

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
• One year certificate from college or technical school is preferred
• 3-5 years Industrial repair experience is required
• Industrial repair in heavy industry is preferred
