Job Description

Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) is hiring a medical scribe in to work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners and other health care team members. The ideal candidate must have a medical background, be able to type over 80 WPM, capture information accurately and be able to work well with physicians. The medical scribe will be in the room with the physician and patient and scribe real time. This is a permanent full-time position with a $500 sign on bonus!

Job Duties:

• Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for physician(s).
• Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
• Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
• Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient.
• Prepares and sends all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
• Monitors the duration of basic lab results and screening procedures.
• Complies with hospital and medical facility policies, including those relating to HIPAA and Joint Commission.
• Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.

Ability to:

• Work in a fast pace, busy and sometimes stressful environment.
• Listen, observe and draft medical information quickly and accurately in an EMR.
• Learn and apply complicated medical terminologies and techniques.
• Communicate and interact professionally with others.
• Operate a personal computer, related software applications and EMR.
• Maintain strict confidentiality by following HIPAA and PHI guidelines.

Experience and job skills needed:

• Patient scribe or transcription experience preferred
• EMR experience
• Medical terminology or background
• Excellent typing skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Professional presentation with others
