Job Description

Job Title: Nuclear   R&D System Engineer

Location: Los Alamos, NM, US

Position Overview:
In this role, you will provide essential technical support in the development and improvement of processes while ensuring equipment operability and compliance across multiple organizational frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, improve, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes in support of high-value production initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and adhere to Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Maintenance, and Conduct of Operations.
  • Serve as a key contributor in R&D and Operations teams, addressing engineering challenges through research, design, testing, analysis, verification, and validation of solutions.
  • Mentor early-career staff, postdocs, and students, fostering professional growth and development within the team.
  • Present findings and progress updates at project meetings, showcasing engineering assignments and collaborating on project milestones.
  • Adapt to evolving R&D demands while maintaining rigorous safety, security, compliance, and scheduled adherence.

Eligibility and Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Intermediate expertise in mechanical, manufacturing, machining, or other relevant engineering disciplines.
  • Proven experience in conducting complex engineering work, including designing or reviewing projects, systems, or components.
  • Demonstrated ability in performing system and component testing, along with developing, codifying, and validating engineering requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and a commitment to high-quality, timely deliverables.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in various work environments and glovebox operations.
  • Knowledge of conducting operations principles within a nuclear facility setting.
  • Active “Q” clearance
