JOB SUMMARY:

Develops and maintains quality standards on incentive purchases. Manages PP/TOP approvals/spec, packaging, design and legal/safety regulations. Identifies product quality issues and expectations and independently negotiates with vendors on product not meeting expectations. Shares extensive product knowledge through training of buyers and newer associates. Develops strong working relationships with Buyers, Vendors and other inter-departmental associates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Buyers to develop a full implementation of product quality, value, and design.
  • Identifies product quality issues and expectations, communicates, and resolves issues to the vendor thru PP/TOP approval process. Approvals include quality of product/stones and metals/spec, packaging, legal/safety regulations, colors, against established standards in a timely manner.
  • Guides vendors with jewelry packaging development- ensuring quality in size/material/weight/finishes/color, etc.
  • Builds product knowledge and identifies quality issues through market travel, mix assessment of our stores/ competition, and attending product training classes.
  • Maintains system to manage on order for assigned areas, track samples received, approval status and resolutions.
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with the vendors/buyers through market travel and consistent communication.
  • Independently negotiates with vendors on cost reductions, cancellations, or RTV’s of product not meeting expectations.
  • Educate buyers on compliance issues, legal/safety/trademark regulations, and quality standards.
  • Make suggestions for design, mechanism, and techniques to help improve cost without taking away from quality. Recommends methods to improve the product construction and quality.
  • Communicates technically achievable direction to the vendors on how to correct color, components, and review product samples.
  • Ensures that vendors understand any product placed may be tested for weight, spec, etc.
  • Ensures all federal and safety labeling regulations are followed. Partners with Legal on product or trademark issues.
  • Analyze and forecast current and future jewelry and packaging design trends

Skill requirements for consideration:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience: Prefer Degree in Fashion/Jewelry Product Design and/or Merchandising
  • 3-5 years of Product Development/Merchandising experience focused in Jewelry
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, OneNote, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Media Beacon
  • Acumen for color and design. Has a high degree of aesthetic sensibility in the jewelry markets.
  • Highly skilled in evaluation of fashion and fine jewelry- plating standards/ stones/metals and all technical aspects of jewelry production.
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and follow through skills
  • Great communication and relationship building skills.
  • Works well in a team environment and ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize workload
  • Ability to communicate and interpret conceptual design ideas.

This position has a starting salary range of $99,600 to $129,600 per year

Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
