Job Description

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services not only include basic medical care, but also dental, optometry, behavioral health services, fitness, nutrition and other family programs.

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is hiring a Dietitian to our Health Promotion Disease Prevention team! Our Dietitian develops plans, executes and evaluates health education programs, and is actively integrated into our clinical departments. 

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaches nutrition counseling and physical activity curriculum to pediatric, adults, and families
  • Assess behavior and eating habits. Point of Care - blood pressure, A1C and lipids (finger stick).
  • Develops and initiates therapeutic interventions consistent with patient needs and interests
  • Develops plans, executes and evaluates one on one and group health education programs according to department objectives
  • Utilizes knowledge of personal nutrition, anatomy and exercise physiology, including terminology
  • Coordinates implements and evaluates community wellness programs
  • Performs data entry, prepares reports and develops pre- and post-tests, and evaluation instruments appropriate for age
  • Establishes and maintains community partnerships to benefit Health Promotion Disease Prevention (HPDP) Programs
  • Presents health or OKCIC information to outside organizations
  • Attends staff conferences, meetings and in service as assigned
  • Attends CME events to meet minimum requirements, as set forth by regulatory licensing bodies (Commission of Dietetic Registration)
  • Refers patient appropriately to outside services (i.e. Behavioral Health, Public Health, etc.)
  • Supervises projects and student interns as necessary

Requirements:

  •  Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position, medical marijuana license holders who test positive for marijuana will not be qualified for this position.
  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission and core values
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences and both RD/LD license required
  • Current food handlers certification required
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Certified in Pediatric, Adolescent, and/or Adult weight management preferred.
  • Experience in nutrition education programming and counseling preferred
  • Clinical experience or certifications for nutrition education in oncology, women's health, seniors over age 65, fitness interventions, and clinical disease-specific interventions
