Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with Wisconsin DPI regulations and IDEA. The SPED teacher will collaborate with general education staff, parents, and related service providers to develop and implement IEPs that promote student growth, independence, and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s needs, strengths, and goals.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.
• Adapt general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with various disabilities (mild/moderate/severe).
• Use data-driven instruction and progress monitoring tools to track student achievement.
• Provide direct instruction in resource, inclusive, or self-contained settings.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all special education legal timelines and requirements.
• Collaborate with IEP teams, including families, therapists, and case managers.
• Participate in professional development and stay current on best practices and compliance in special education.

Qualifications:

• Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license with a Special Education certification (e.g., Cross-Categorical K–12, Emotional Behavioral Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, etc.)
• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Wisconsin special education law.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and use assistive technology.

Preferred:

• Experience with IEP writing software (e.g., SEEDS, Skyward).
• Experience working in a diverse educational setting.
• CPI certification or willingness to obtain.
