Job Description

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations within the food manufacturing facility. This role ensures efficient procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, logistics, and distribution while maintaining cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Strategy & Operations

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, quality, and logistics teams to align supply chain processes with business goals.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain effectiveness, such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and cost savings.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely deliveries.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms while maintaining compliance with food industry regulations.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any quality or supply issues.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while preventing overstock or shortages.
  • Implement inventory control systems and best practices to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Work with the warehouse team to ensure proper storage, rotation, and traceability of raw materials and finished goods.

Production & Demand Planning

  • Develop and maintain production schedules in collaboration with production and sales teams.
  • Use demand forecasting and analytics to align supply chain activities with customer needs and market trends.
  • Adjust plans in response to fluctuations in demand, supply chain disruptions, or operational constraints.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Manage transportation and distribution logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
  • Oversee compliance with food safety, handling, and transportation regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for logistics improvements and cost savings.

Compliance & Food Safety

  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with food safety standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, FSMA, GFSI).
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any food safety concerns related to the supply chain.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory compliance.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a high-performing supply chain team through training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Foster collaboration between departments to improve overall efficiency and problem-solving.
  • Act as the key point of contact for supply chain-related issues and initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, inventory control, and demand planning.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, ERP, WMS).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in food manufacturing.
