FACILITY

The Riceboro, GA Paper Mill was founded in 1966. The mill specializes in producing Kraft linerboard, which contains 25%-30% recycled fiber depending on the grade. Products out of the mill include Mullen Kraft linerboard as well as High performance Kraft linerboard.

DS Smith Riceboro leads the way in sustainability with ISO 50001 certification and diverting waste from landfills. Riceboro’s ISO 50001 certification and Sustainability partnerships will ensure that operational and behavioral change contribute its series of carbon reduction targets, including a science-based target that requires a 40% reduction of carbon dioxide emissions per ton of product by 2030, compared to 2019 levels, and a commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Paper Machine Manager is responsible for

• Fully support the mill safety programs.
• Provide technical expertise in the daily operations of the department including assisting Operators in resolving gaps between production and the plan.
• Support mill process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Convert the Business Plan to a daily operations plan.
• Analyze and allocate production losses.
• Work with the maintenance planners and supervisors to ensure operating plan and reliability issues are coordinated.
• Works with Area Maintenance/Operational Resources to plan and support outages.
• Develop goals and implementation strategies for productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, and safety improvements for Paper Machine operations.
• Maintain harmonious relations with team members by consistent and correct application of contract provisions and company policies to avoid breach of contract, to ensure conformance to work rules and regulations, etc.; assist as needed in the handling of labor relations issues including grievances and disciplinary action.
• Help develop capital plans aimed at long term improvement of line operations.
• Provide leadership to the line while supporting mill vision.
• Assist in developing skills of Paper Machine employees.
• Point of contact for chemical trials, machine clothing and other operating equipment, etc.

COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS

• Degree preferred but not required
• At least ten years of experience in paper mill operations on paper machine
• A working knowledge of process management, financial analysis, accounting procedures, and planning are desirable.

• Physical requirements include walking distances in mill operations, climb flights of stairs, and climb ladders
